Regarding The Perl Conference in Orlando 2016 specifically, please answer the following as best you can.

When did you decide to come to this conference?

• Accepted to speak
• After being accepted to speak
• After seeing Perl 6 was released
• considering after 2015, talk accepted cemented my attendence
• finally decided, proximity to home was a plus
• hearing that Damian Conway was teaching perl 6 classes
• Here for historical research

• I noticed YAPC would be close (I'm in Boca Raton)
• Moved back to North America from Australia, so I can attend again
• Wanted to go to Flordia and work would only pay for something in this price range
• when my current employer paid for it :)

How do you feel about renaming "YAPC" to "The Perl Conference"?

• Doesn't matter to me, might to other people.
• I like it, bit I think it'll always be called YAPC informally
• Mixed feelings. I liked the effort on display in 2015 (and the 2016 CFP) to make it less 100% focused on Perl topics, and this feels like walking that back.
• people will still call it "YAPC" no matter what you call it officially ...
• YAPC was a catchy name. TPC is Java-style boring :)

What kinds of talks would you prefer at future conferences?

Are there any topics you would specifically like to see featured?

• A talk explaining why it's taken 12+ years to release perl6 and they acknowledge that it's still too slow. Why would anyone should adopt a language for their business when the implementers can't seem to fix the problem when it's been known for a long time? There are a lot of cool features in perl6 but I certainly couldn't sell it to the company I work for.

• I attended the conference because Damian Conway was having a perl 6 training on Sunday. I wanted to take his other training course on Thursday, but work would only allow me to go for half the conference.
• I would like to see a session each day. It would be Newbies Asking Questions. Well, I don't think it needs to be restricted to Newbies necessarily, but perhaps in the beginner track there could be a session where people could drop in and ask questions about anything Perl-related. On the beginner track, these questions would probably be fairly straightforward to answer. Part of the fun will be that even the moderator might not have all the answers, but other newbies might be able to contribute their shared wisdom.
• I would prefer a little more weight given to talks about applications (versus Perl-qua-Perl) and non-technical topics.
• In convincing my employer that they should give me the hours to attend, it is always helpful if I can bring back insights on dealing with older code bases in modern contexts. So at work this year, we will talk a lot about Test2 and Devel::QuickCover in our reports. ( It's harder to ask for the talks that I personally will find fun because most often they're talks about things I didn't know I wanted to know... )

• More advanced talks about Perl 6 features, such as concurrency.
• More on testing.
• More talks about projects (e.g., BioPerl) vs. individual modules; more talks about integrating Perl into solutions (vs. individual modules). I would also find add'l talks on other languages that are complimentary to Perl (e.g., R). Given that O'Reilly's OSCON doesn't really address languages any more it might be a way to get more people involved.

• We talk too much about the language and not enough about the cool stuff people are doing with it.
• Web development with Perl. There was a web dev class, but it didn't have Perl. Would like to see a Perl web framework like Catalyst or Mojolicious in a course.

In order to help future organisers gauge an appropriate conference fee, how much would you (or your company) have paid for a conference ticket? Feel free to provide an answer for all rates, where corporate rate would be paid for by your company (including a Master Class place), standard rate would be the regular price paid by attendees in paid employment, and lastly the concession rate for anyone who holds proof that they are in fulltime education or are unemployed.
